"Asking for help doesn't mean that we are weak or incompetent, it usually indicates an advanced level of honesty and intelligence" (Anne Wilson Schaef)

When you are thinking about looking for a skilled listener to talk to or are quietly aware that you may need the guidance of a counsellor, taking the first steps can be both incredibly challenging and rewarding By finding the right therapist, you will be able to immediately lighten your load and find the time and space to reassess your life and any challenges you are currently facing. Counselling generaly helps people begin to look at their lives differently and evaluate and evolve aspects of their past whilst creating significant and positive change for their future.

The experience of counselling is different for different people, depending on your issues and where you are currently in your life.It may be that you need a few sessions to help with a current situation or problem, or it may be a longer journey of self discovery and uncovering past hurts so that you can make sense of them and move on. Counselling may be one continuous journey or it may be a series of smaller sections throughout a period in your life. There is no right or wrong way to take part, it's what feels right for you at a given time.

You don't have to attend counselling sessions just because something is worrying or troubling you, although this is the reason that most people have their first experience of counselling, it may well be that you would like to know yourself better, know more about how you interact with others and why you do the things that you do. Counselling for you may be about gaining self awareness and heightening life experience or simply finding a regular time to organise and understand your thoughts.

Every client I have worked with has been different and rather than looking at labels I tend to focus on problems and solutions. However, I am experienced in working with a variety of issues that include anxiety & depression, relationship issues & couples counselling, eating disorders, abuse, domestic violence, rape, sexual abuse, workplace difficulties, stress, chronic pain & illness, suicidal thoughts, low self esteem, infertility and bi polar.  This list is not exhaustive and I would be happy to speak to you about any problems you may have.
